most_popular_state_2016

Each year Singletracks ranks the most popular mountain bike trails based on the number and quality of Singletracks members’ reviews, along with the number of visits riders make to each trail during the year. This year, we’re also including select Canadian Provinces in our list for the first time!

There are many familiar names on this year’s list, but also some new ones. In fact, 18 out of the 50 top US state trails changed from our 2015 list. Also new for this year, we’re listing two runner-up trails for each state (below).

Someone should totally help us create a road trip map hitting all of these trails with the least amount of driving!

Nice list. Great material to stimulate the wander lust. Thanks for adding #2 & #3 for each state this year. Makes for a nice quick reference tool for travel planning. I’m hoping to do a big tour through the South this year or next (early winter). I have so many Southern trails on my wish list. We’ll see. I for sure have to make a trip back through the Midwest in early winter. So I hope to ride Shawnee Mission, Swope, Berryman, Buffalo Trace and Mountwood — all fairly close to i-70. I’ll take a pass on Brown County I think. Been there and done that. I hope it’s dry this winter.

      mongwolf,
Experience of another Colorado boy. I loved Swope. If you’re coming down I-70, it’s also worth stopping in at Landahl which may be the best ride in MO if you like ledgy, technical riding and it’s also convenient to I-70. I liked Shawnee also, but not as much–it’s really kind of a “Swope-lite.”

    • mongwolf

Hey thanks for the inputs John. I remember your very positive review of Swope. I can’t wait to give it a try. And yes, I’ve had my eye on Landahl also. I’m guessing for now that Swope will be enough tech for me and my minimal skills … … especially on a first time, once only ride. Swope and “Swope-Lite” =) sound like a good place for me to start. I’ll give Swope a ride heading East. If it goes well, I could try Landalh on the way back to CO.

Hope your Southern travels bring you to Mt Zion in Mississippi.! Look us up on Facebook, text 601.754.7785 for current trail conditions.

This is all you could come up with for BC.

    1. Smith Creek (Kelowna / Westbank)
    2. Rossland’s Seven Summit Ridge Trail (Rossland)
    3. Ellison Park (Vernon)
    What about Whistler/ Blackcome
North shore and Coast Gravity park Sunshine Coast.

    • mongwolf

Yes, hopefully we can get more Canucks and others who ride up there to give more input into Singletracks so that the database better represents the amazing riding in BC, Saskatchewan and other Canadian provinces. Remember these results are from riders/posters inputs. They are not the opinion of Jeff or the Singletracks team.
