Trail Description
About this trail
Most of the trails are excellent, fun and some challenging. Stay off Rocky Pond Trail - the MDC map will show it is a biking trail but it is more for hiking and a very long loop. There are some spots where you will have to hike it and alot of down trees. But over all its a great ride.

Trail Q&A
Rider Questions

Q: HI! I have 3 kids who aren't very experienced riders, my daughter is 10. Is there a good trail in the Boston area that she could learn on while my boys, also unexperienced, but boys, (12,14) could have fun too? Trying to find fun things to do as a family. -gbloch@me.com

A: Beaver Brook in Belmont or Cutler Park in Newton

Review: How funny time has changed.. My first review was a year or so ago.. This is my second review and its because I've gotten a little better at MTBing that I have come to understand the differences in terrain and what is considered a good ride..

Leominster has varied terrain with one consistent theme.. Rocks... There are some fairly smooth sections but then there are rocks.. rocks to jump over/off, rocks to avoid and rocks that beckon the call to climb over..

I originally asked myself why anybody would want to ride such terrain and the answer I have now is.. " Because it's fun".. Very challenging and fun at the some times.. With names like split rock, Organism, Jane Fonda work out, No Dab, Hill Billy heaven. The list goes on and on..

If you are an adventurous type and want some challenging rock gardens with sweeping turns this place won't disappoint..

Review: Great trails which are really well maintained and marked. To be clear, there are a fair amount of rocks so at least a front suspension would be prudent. However, I rode it on my cyclocross bike without too much trouble. Very nice trails all around.

Review: One of the larger mountain biking areas in central Massachusetts. There's lots of singletracks there. Most of them are for intermediate or advanced riders due to the abundance of rocks. If you are looking for less rocky singletracks check out Groton Town Forest. The fairly slow riding also means that it is easy to bring dog.

I recently spend 2 hours riding 10 miles and there were still many trails I did't ride.

Review: Leominster State is a great place for riding. Park at Rocky Pond for your start point. NEMBA has great descriptions of the trails. The local riders have named the trails. There's the backdoor which is the trail right out of the parking lot. There are multiple trails right off of Rocky Pond. You can ride for hours. The park is large. Single trail with rocks, roots, log jams, bridges, rock gardens and great climbs! If you can go with someone who rides there great! If you don't mind getting turned around have a great time!

Review: This is a very fun place to ride. 9 out of 10 for technical. I started down Rocky Pond Road, the DCR service road, and hit the trails off of it. Like The Loop Trail. A short loop but fun.....fast with lots of switchbacks, blowdowns and the usual rocks and roots. Back onto RPR onto Fenton. Hit the unnamed trail on the right off of Fenton. The best trail I hit today. Had a great flow and very technical. It had some rocky climbs, blowdowns, swithbacks galore! It loops back to Fenton which ends at the Ball Hill Trail. The BHT is mostly a hiking.....no biking....trail. It does eventually hook back up with the Rocky Pond Trail which is a technical fun time. Bring your lungs for these trails. Lots of climbs....you know the fun rock filled climbs. You can see that NEMBA maintains the trails nice here. I parked at the gate on Rocky Pond Road. I am going back again, real soon.
