All three trails intersect in the middle of the forest so one can vary their rides. Weekend will see more hikers and trail runners, but its never crowded. Watch for ticks in the spring and when in doubt call ahead for conditions. 913-312-8833 (The park will close it if its too wet)

Review: Great, well marked trail system. SMP has something for all levels of riders. Orange Loop says it's rated for beginners but, fair warning... is is non-stop roots and rocks. All of which are doable but, don't assume that it is a stroll through the woods as, it will test your legs and skills as a new rider.

Review: After reading other riders reviews and considering most other trails in the area were closed due to rain, I ended up here for a ride. Not sure what other trails in Kansas are like, but compared to most reputable trails that i've riden in the midwest, this place dosn't stack up. The singletrack seriously lacked flow do to huge roots everywhere. Basically, the rough climbs wore me out and the rocky, rooty downhills were unrewarding. I should mention that I probably had the wrong bike for the job. A full suspension rig would do much better than my rigid fat bike. At the end of the day it's all about fun factor. This place is not for me. 2 stars for good signage.

Review: This is a fun place to ride if you like rocks and tree roots, it will challenge your skills. It has some fast sections that's a blast. The trails are well maintained and it is wide enough for the two way traffic that goes on. I hit this trail a lot since it's close to my job and I'm never disappointed.

Review: All trails are two way and multi-use. A lot of the red and violet loop are non-stop rocks and roots. A lot of fun if you are up for it. Lots of challenging lines. No real drops or air. Just hard challenging trail.

Review: Three stacked loops, one beginner, one intermediate, and one advanced--all rocky. Even the beginner loop is littered with rocks, but in a way that a new can probably handle it and develop to move up to the intermediate trail. There's no big hucks or massive features on the advanced trail, but it does require trials-like skills to navigate a few of the rock gardens, especially as the curves thread through tight trees. This is an excellent trail system and makes an excellent companion to Swope Park on the Missouri side of KC.

Review: 90% insane rocks and roots, 10% flow. Lotsa fun and challenge. Trails are expertly designed and maintained, but there is not a whole lot of variety to the scenery and terrain, with the route mostly tight and twisty through hardwood and cedar trees, plus a bit of open prairie riding. An excellent example of KC area technical trail.

Review: Shawnee Mission Park Trails was a blast. Great combo of technical roots and rocks with some fast dirt single track. Well maintained and smooth flow. Great layout and use of the area. After riding through a challenging section you get to relax and let off some steam cruising some downhill or burning through the dirt before meeting your next challenge. Lots of traffic out here so keep your eyes looking forward and be prepared to pull over. I really enjoyed the ride and hope you do to.

Review: Good all around trail. I usually stick to Orange and Red loops, Violet is a little too rocky and technical for my liking. There are plenty of rocks and roots to deal with at SMP, but you'll find some nice flow too.
