Jeff, I had done that. Several times. I even cleared the cache for that page and it still kept saying I wasn’t logged in. I have not visited the site without being logged it.
It lasted 2 days, the third day I went back to the page it worked fine.
Yeah, but it was fixed.
Similar problem. If I use my “over the tailgate” pad on my Tundra, it is constantly telling me that I’m going to hit something and that “auto braking” is disabled because the sensor is dirty. Annoying but at least it disables the braking rather than applying it.
I have taken to standing the bikes up in the bed instead.
For any bike computer, you will need a heart rate monitor. I use the Polar H10 because it is very simple (heart rate only), no frills and connects with almost any bike computer.
February 27, 2022 at 08:34 in reply to: Anyone have a good rec. for a rear blinkie for night riding? #615418Since I clip my light to my back/hip pack, I “fixed” the brush off problem by using a strip of Velcro around the clip after I put it on the pack. Not sure if that would work for you, but my light has stayed in place.
Welcome to the forums.
One of the best ways I keep in shape at 68 is to just ride. During the winter, I do other types of exercises, but mostly I just ride.
As for the bike – whatever gets you out riding is what you should use. “Latest and greatest” is nice but if you are waiting around for and not riding, then, well you get the idea.
Enjoy the ride, enjoy the forums and welcome to MTB.
Great article. I am 68 and still riding. Here are a few of things I’ve done to get others interested in riding.
For the record, I have 2 spare bikes (3 if you count my fat-bike).
- When I see someone hiking on the trails, I pull off to the side – no exceptions. If they stop, I start a conversation and talk to them about the MTB world. If they show an interest I offer to help them get started. I will even set up a time and place to ride and introduce them to the sport.
- I network about MTB everywhere I go. If there’s an interest, I do the same as the previous statement.
- I work with a NICA team in MD and I speak to the middle/high school kids at my church about MTB. Even if they aren’t interested in joining a team, I usually get a few of them out on trails.
- I do the same thing for the 20-30 somethings at my church – and now we have a small group of riders – who are asking their friends.
In all of these experiences, I speak about tail etiquette, trail maintenance, and other things. Not just personal experience and “life stuff” which also comes into the conversations.
Congratulations, Tex. I’m a coach for MICL – Maryland’s NICA organization. In addition to learning skills, riding trails and racing, the kids also spend time (and get credit for) trail work. Our team tries to do that at least a couple of times during the season and usually once or twice off-season as well. We teach them trail etiquette as well. So teaching them to not just ride but to love and maintain the trail system, and be respectful of the trails and others using them. #morekidsonbikes
There are a lot of trails in the various sections of Patapsco Valley State Park, there are trails north and south of the city.
One of my “regular” trail systems is near Westminster MD in a county park called “Hashawha Environmental Center” (https://www.trailforks.com/region/hashawha-environmental-center-25460/).
South of the city there are quite a few systems as well. I’ve not ridden it but Bacon Ridge seems to be a favorite in that area. https://www.trailforks.com/region/bacon-ridge-16904/
Still logged in. Looks like the issue is fixed. Thanks for your work on this!
Two days and still logged in. Hoping it is fixed.
Well I logged in yesterday, and then today I had to log back in….
Thanks, Jeff!
It was holding as of this morning – so hopefully all is well now.
Appreciate the work
So, I thought maybe the problem was solved – I read through the home page articles. Left for a ride, came back and still logged in. As soon as I switched to the forums I was logged out again. This is from a PC running Chrome on Windows 10.

You made my point exactly. On other sites, I have been logged in forever. And I get most of the same news on Pinbike where I stay logged in. It used to be that way here but there’s been a lot of changes to this site in the last two years that make it less user friendly. I am not a subscriber but this used to be my daily go-to for MTB news and such. Now I find I bounce here and quickly move on to other sites that give the same info without the pain of having to login – sometimes 2x a day.
It used to be here: https://www.singletracks.com/contribute-to-singletracks/
But now there’s only adds for trails, events and bike shops.
There’s an email at the bottom if you want to submit an article.
I still stop here daily, but more and more I find I’m hitting other sites more frequently. With constantly having to re-login (almost every time I hit the site) . Between that, dropping the app, and other changes it has become less “friendly” for me. There is still good stuff here so I drop by but it is no longer my “go to” site for MTB.
I am pretty sure that the app was discontinued and everything is done through the web site. I no longer do trail check-ins for that reason.
I use this but I have to carry my lubes in a separate container as this isn’t deep enough: https://www.amazon.com/Craftsman-3-Drawer-Metal-Portable-Toolbox/dp/B00167XE90/ref=sr_1_35?dchild=1&keywords=tool+box&pd_rd_r=e491985a-0a6e-489a-afee-0dc74a050c2b&pd_rd_w=OvdDQ&pd_rd_wg=Dp7HV&pf_rd_p=9dad86ae-1554-484b-9cc0-f9673b44705e&pf_rd_r=AKKBZYRZ4E87BRWQA4TN&qid=1610731869&sr=8-35
