Sorry for your delima. I almost made the same mistake myself. The used bikes where I am from are way over priced. My dad gave me his old 94’ Trek 850 which is still a pretty nice bike. I decided to fix it up. When I was finished I put more money into it than the Airborne SkyHawk I recently purchased. The skyHawk is a much better bike but the Trek has sentimental value and it taught me how to work on bikes.

If I can offer any advice I would say use this bike to learn how to work on bikes. Watch youtube vids that teach you how to do specific things. However, before you make any big purchases try to figure out what it will cost to make it ride the way you want. Then check out Airborne’s site. I bet you can buy one of there bikes brand new for less than you can make yours as good as their bikes. Like Schwim said above, it might not be as bad as you think and if you can make some adjustments without spending a lot of money… That would be good. But don’t sink too much more into it only to discover that the technology 10+ years old cannot compete with the bikes of today.

I hope you don’t mind losing a little muscle mass… I’m sure you will be leaner too and in better cardio shape for a positive though.

    Congrats on the bike!

If you can afford $600 you can get a brand new Airborne Guardian that will out class all other bikes in that price range IMO. They are an Internet based company, however, they are located in Dayton (Centerville), OH which is not far from you. If you call them you can setup an appointment to stop by their office and they will let you borrow a loaner bike for the weekend.

I just got it an hour and a half ago. It was way more stable and well built than I thought it would be. This is a sturdy piece of equipment. My only disappointment so far is the use of plastic for the knobs. IMO this whole thing should be made of metal but as long as there are no problems and it lasts a long time I don’t care. It is big and stout and heavier than I thought it would be… Plus it is beautiful and seems to be made in America.

I have tried many beers from all over the world… Have paid as much as $10 for a bottle of IPA and have enjoyed many a great beer. You may call me crazy but a year ago I tried a new beer and loved the flavor and quick buzz from it. I haven’t wanted anything else since. That beer is the extremely inexpensive Keystone Ice. 😃

    Thanks for all the recommendations!

I have seen that one on Amazon but was worried it wouldn’t last. Does it seem like it is built with good materials and will last long? Will it hold your bike in any position?

I saw an article in 2012 about the $1000ish bike shoot out and the Mamba won. It was a beautiful bike too.

It is funny that the three stands I came in here considering are also the ones recommended here even though I didn’t mention them. The PCS-9 & 10 and the Feedback for $150. Of these what are the differences and which has the most features?

This… Nothing can touch these components for the price new IMO.

You should check out Airborne bikes. They give you a lot more wiggle room. Good bang for buck and it just so happens their parent company is Huffy 😃 although they are a separate company. Great customer service as well. I got what i believe is the equivalent of a $700 bike for $350.

To bad I don’t live closer. I’m 43 and have a 20 year old (1993) Trek Mountain Track 850. Just getting back into bicycling since I did BMX in the mid 80s and some road bikes in the early 90s (my parents gave me these bikes recently and they rode them When they were my age). I’m in Florida though.. I would have gotten into it sooner but I didn’t realize they had trails here. Outside of our water and beaches Florida is not known for outdoor activities.
