New Thomson Elite setback post just came in the mail! Slapped it on before going to work and going out to ride first thing tomorrow!
Water, water, water! Especially before you go. It helps to always have a water bottle on hand. I’ve got a liter camelbak bottle that I keep with me at work, in class, at home, all the time. If you’re constantly taking in fluids, you’ll be well hydrated for when you want to hit the trails.
On the usual trails in my neck of the woods you never really see much other than the typical squirrels that don’t jump out of the way until the last second. Once or twice I’ve seen a few turtles, but never seen any deer.
I no longer own this bike, sold it and got my hands on a ’98 Klein Pulse Comp, but it’s pretty striking if you ask me! It is black I guess, but still pretty eye-catching!
Be careful, once you ride SS no geared bike will ever satisfy you. . . if you go singlespeed you can never go back! I speak as a recent convert.
"mtbgreg1" wroteBut the issue is, many times it isn’t the bike, it’s how you choose to ride it. If I was you, I wouldn’t worry too much about categories. They’re constantly changing too….
Agreed. How you ride the bike is more important than the bike itself.
Hell, you could ride DH on a road bike if you wanted. . . no guarantees on your safety or well being, but you could definitely do it. . . 😆
Just a quick update:
The beast has a new paint job and it is currently beat to hell and back. No front brakes, rear brakes barely work, saddle is starting to fall apart, and I still love it more than any other bike I’ve ever ridden!
I actually rode it in my first ever race a couple of weeks ago and had an absolute blast! I came in 16th only hit one tree! 😆
Ahh. . gotcha. My bad, man.
This sounds cool! How exactly do we participate in this contest?
Hahaha yep, that’s it. Oh well. . .
But I will definitely watch out for your blog post! Sounds like it’ll be really informative!
Hmm, I’m not sure, I’d have to check out my bike when I get home.
It’s the 2010 hardrock, in case that helps.
😆 Haha thanks cynergy.
Thanks for the welcomes, guys.
Thanks for the info, and the advice. I think I’ll go for a couple spins in a single gear to try it out. . . . we’ll see how it goes! 😆
"bikenut1" wrotejust love it!!!!!!! it is something that just feels natural like peanut butter and jelly. can’t get enough of it. and rubksnoob you really should try road biking talk about getting in shape quick. really helps out with mtbing. ecspecially with leg and lung. i road bike during week and i let r rip in the woods on weekends. just makes you very strong.
It’s not that I have anything against road biking, it’s just that given the choice between road biking and trail riding. . . I’ll hit the trails every time. 😃
Although, I do on occassion ride our old clunker road bike to get places if the car is running low on gas. . .
I ride to have fun and be active. I love the exertion of the climbs and the thrill of tearing down the descents. It’s also a way to be physical and exercise while being closer to nature at the same time. That’s a big part of it for me. It’s why road biking has never appealed to me.
So to sum it up:
Adrenaline, sweat, and nature. 😃 -
