Mountain Biking Lake Wanaka Outlet Track

****   Add a review
#32 of 387 mountain bike trails in New Zealand
#3,953 in the world

The Lake Wanaka Outlet Track is a superb "family-scenic-Sunday" ride from downtown Wanaka along the edge of the lake to the outlet and then along the bank of the mighty Clutha River down to the Albert Town Bridge. It's twenty five kilometres there and back.

The trail is a mixture of single track, double track, gravel road and a very short section of sealed road and footpath. It is all well formed and easy and is popular with walkers and runners as well as riders. To sample a short section of it drive to the car park at the end of Gunn Road in Albert Town and ride up river till you're ready to turn back.

Try to go on a fine, clear day to make the best of the tremendous views of lake, river and mountains. This is a ride with its own special magic. Don't miss it!

Very easy, lots of gravel double track. Not much for riding, but gorgeous scenery.

This is a wonderful ride - easy but not for absolute beginners. The scenery is stupendous, the whole experience magical....
