While mountain bikers have speculated wildly on internet forums about the application and the final specs of RockShox’s new RS-1 fork, RockShox has finally released some official information and put our late-night wondering to rest. And no, people, this isn’t a fat bike fork: rather, it’s an ultra-lightweight carbon XC race fork that is currently available for 29ers only.

Weighing in at a scant 1,666g (3.67lbs), this inverted fork is available in 80, 100, and 120mm travel options, boasts 32mm aluminum stanchions, a tapered carbon steerer, and 46 and 51mm offsets. The axle is a “Predictive Steering – Torque Tube w/Maxle Ultimate,” and the fork features a Solo Air spring, Accelerator Damper, and XLoc Remote with Sprint or Full Sprint settings for damper adjustment.

This fly-weight carbon wonder fork is unabashedly intended for racing, and the $1,865 price tag reflects that.

Availability: June 2014.
