Canyon has an all-new Sender DH-bike out today, and it’s lighter with less pedal kickback, and with new wheel-size(s).
The Sender has a longer wheelbase for more stability, and adjustable reach and chainstays, allowing riders to tune the bike to certain race courses, something more DH and gravity bikes are incorporating these days.
Size small and medium Senders are getting a “mullet” build, with 27.5″ rear wheels and a 29er up front. Large and XL frames will be on 29er wheels front and rear.
For a medium Sender, with a mixed-wheel set up, this gives the bike a 63° HTA, and a 78.5° STA – for anyone that wants to pull that seatpost up when they get to the bottom of the track and pedal back up. The size medium also gets an airplane-like 1266mm wheelbase, and an adjustable reach of 460mm (-/+8mm).
Canyon says that they were able to trim 600g off of the frame weight, in addition to cutting pedal kickback to a level that is “virtually undetectable on the trail.” The new Sender also gets a noise-damping chainstay protector. The kinematics have been tuned for top-stroke sensitivity, stability and support, along with a progressive end-stroke.
The 2021 Sender launches with only two complete build offerings; a Fox/Shimano equipped Sender CFR FMD is $4,700, and the RockShox/SRAM Sender build is $5,800. These two builds are available outside the US now, and it will be in the States soon, however, Canyon didn’t include an exact release date. See the Canyon website for more information.
