Mountain Biking Dubuque State Forest

*****   Add a review
#59 of 221 mountain bike trails in Massachusetts
#3,763 in the world

This place abounds with excellent single track. It is not marked so you need to keep a sharp eye out for the trails. If possible go with some one who knows the area. Weekends usually ifnd a few locals in the lot readying for a ride. There are at least 25 miles of great single track here.

Getting there
Starting in the center of Ashfield you head west on route 116. At the junction of rt 112 at the stop sign you go straight onto hawley rd. Stay on this road for about 3 miles. at the intersection of old stage rd take a right. This will t onto plainfield rd. Straight across is a fire station, park in the adjacent lot. go in on the dirt road and keep a sharp eye out for single traks on both right and left after the swamp. Alternately you can go to the kiln and just past it there is the start of a great single track.

I have ridden here for at least 15 years and there are new trails still popping up. If you are attentive you can find 15-20 miles of fun single track. Most pf it is geared towards the xc rider with a few rock piles and drops. Not advanced but a good level of technique helps. Not to many large hills un less you go to far north, beware of prolonged descents to the north as you will drop towards the deerfield river valley- 600-700 ft climb back to theain trail system.
