From The Director . . .
The Traditional finale of WORS, the Wigwam Mountain Bike Challenge, continues to be staged at Sheboygan’s Jaycees’ Quarryview and Evergreen Parks. This venue allows for the conveniences of a city, with ample dining choices, showers, real bathrooms, and plenty of parking, while allowing competitors to feel as though they are in the Wisconsin Northwoods.
The course is mostly single and double track. One moment you will be concentrating on a tight singletrack in the midst of pine woods and then suddenly you will enter a spectator vantage-point where friendly cheers will pump up your adrenaline and push you forward. Sand, gravel, asphalt, mud, grass, pine needles, roots, and the famous “Sheboygan Slickrock”, this course has a bit of everything. There is one steep downhill and one very steep climb, the “Equalizer”. All riders will find a fun and challenging course awaiting them in Sheboygan. Spectators will enjoy the incredible viewing areas all around the course, so bring your camera and get a shot of your favorite racers.
The Wigwam Mountain Bike Challenge is once again expected to bring an exceptional field to this, the closing venue on the WORS circuit. The Wigwam MTB Challenge has great race viewing, concessions, and how can you top the BEST name in socks?! You do not want to miss this event! Come on Saturday for the pre-ride from 12 noon to 7 pm. There is no on-site camping, but motels in the area include: Comfort Inn (800-228-5150), Baymont Inn (800-428-3438), AmericInn (800-634-3444), and Holiday Inn Express (800-465-4329).
This race is the annual race of the FAT KATS organization, a WORBA Chapter based primarily out of Sheboygan. Check out the FAT KATS at www.fatkats.org
