Recently I reviewed the Feiyu Tech WG, a wearable gimbal that adapts to GoPro and similar action cameras. The WG is a phenomenal product that turns unwatchable shaky GoPro footage into buttery smooth goodness. Follow the steps outlined in this video to set up your gimbal for mountain biking.

I highly recommend mounting the T Clamp, which adapts to almost any GoPro mount, on the bottom of the gimbal. I have found that this creates a far more stable attachment to a mount and ensures the best quality video. Mounting the T Clamp on the end of the gimbal throws off the weight ratio and I have found that it ends up tipping or causing the WG to function improperly.
One button controls the power and setting of the whole unit. Hold the white button for two seconds, until it is illuminated blue, to power on the unit. Click this same button to change the rotational axis settings. By far my favorite mount for a wearable gimbal is the chesty. I think it gives an awesome perspective of the ride compared to the “floating through the woods” feeling of a helmet-mounted camera. I have found the “triple click” setting which allows the camera to pan, tilt, and roll works best for the chesty and really all other mounts used for mountain biking. In addition to the chesty, I also like mounting the gimbal on my helmet, directly on the bike, or on a pole mount.
Follow these click patterns to set the rotation accordingly:
- Hold for 2 seconds: Power ON
- 1 click: Pan mode (camera is permitted to pan left and right, but tilting and roll is restricted)
- 2 clicks: Pan and Tilt mode (camera is permitted to pan left and right and tilt up and down, but roll is restricted)
- 3 clicks: Inversion mode (camera is permitted to rotate on all three axises — pan left and right, tilt up and down, and roll)
- 4 clicks: Resets the gimbal position
- Hold for 3 seconds: Power OFF
