The Kona Ouroboros is a mountain biker’s gravel bike. The frame not only comes built up with a suspension fork, but it’s got a dropper post too. Right now, Jenson USA has the aluminum Ouroboros on sale for $1,374.45 in six sizes from 48cm to 58cm, making it one sweet deal.
Kona pitches the Ouroboros as a drop-bar bike that combines “the best parts” of its gravel and mountain bikes, built for off-grid travel and rough terrain. Up front, a Suntour GVX32 fork offers 40mm of travel to take the sting out of washboard roads and rooty singletrack too. Out back, a TranzX dropper with 125mm of travel is operated from the left Microshift lever, so you can get the saddle out of the way without taking a hand off the bar.

The frame is butted 6061 aluminum, and the bike rolls on tubeless-ready WTB ST i27 rims wrapped in wide, 700x50c Maxxis Ravager tires. The gearing is MicroShift 1×10 with a 40t chainring and an 11-48t cassette, which should be wide enough for most rides. TRP Spyre C mechanical disc brakes with 180mm rotors front and rear promise easy maintenance.

Kona offers the Ouroboros in six sizes, from 48cm to 58cm, in a gloss metallic olive finish. The Ouroboros boasts a slack-for-gravel 68.7° head tube angle, long chainstays, and conservative reach numbers across all sizes. Though we don’t have the weight for the Ouroboros, it’s safe to assume it’s not a lightweight gravel bike, so if that matters, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
For riders who want one bike for gravel rides, bikepacking trips, and the occasional singletrack detour, the price is right. At the $2,499 retail price Jenson lists (Kona says it’s $2,099), the Ouroboros is a great deal. At under $1,400, it’s a steal!
