I enjoyed this overview on Enduo, but do want to comment on one idea put forward. While practicing riding fast downhill is certainly a critical component of being a successful enduro racer, I would qualify the idea of using Strava or other timing method to push the limits on your local trails. A bike park, downhill specific trails, or remote areas would be a great choice for this, but hauling ass down a muti-use or popular local trail is a great way to hurt somebody or at the very least reinforce a bad stereotype of mountain bikers. Like it or not, most trails are shared trails, and not appropriate for shooting for KOM on the downhills. I am in awe of the skills of many top riders, but I think that even when you are on an “Enduro” ride, pinning it on the downhill without regard for other users is a great way to loose trail access.
