I’m not a serious racer but I do race a couple times a year and I’m always looking to up my game so to speak. I like the endurance races but races like the cough potato are a real blast to just have fun. A couple of years ago I wanted to race the cough potato but I waited too long, when I called to inquire about race day entry the person I was speaking to told me I should try the Swank 65 so I said “sure why not” without real thinking about it. After registering I read the course cue’s and realized how serious it was. I was not in shape and had never ridden Farlow Gap so the day before I “per-rode” it. Ended up walking have of Farlow and got a blister on my heel. I was super ticked. I ended up racing with but no expectations, had a great time and rode some fantastic single tract with a bunch of great people, good food and great beer. Sometimes in the end that’s what its all about.
