SRAM has updated its RISE 60 wheelset with improved hubs and rims to improve their already solid XC / Trail offering in both 27.5 and 29 configurations.

New hubs

The new RISE 60 hubs feature the Double Time™ hub and pawl system for 52 (!) points of engagement which translates into just 7° between each contact point for a smoother, more efficient roll that promises to be more durable than previous systems.  The wheels are available with an XD driver (SRAM 11spd compatible) or a standard, 10spd driver body.

The 29er version also features SRAM’s Predictive Steering™ technology which works to make the fork / hub interface stiffer and thus, more responsive to rider input. This is especially effective when mated with a SRAM RS1 inverted fork.

Updated rims

SRAM’s RISE 60 rims now feature a hookless design which “results in a wheel that’s lighter, stronger and more resistant to the impact of XC racing.” While we don’t have all the details, suffice it to say this is optimized for tubeless tires which nearly everyone seems to be running these days.

Pricing for the latest RISE 60 wheels will come in around $1,000 per wheel. More details are available from SRAM’s website and in the video below.

We’re looking forward to getting hands on with these wheels at Interbike next month!
