Love it or hate it, technology is becoming an increasing part of peoples’ lives, and that even extends to the mountain bike trail. Check out these mountain bike gadgets we spied at Interbike:
Velocity Clip
The Velocity Clip is a universal smartphone mount mashed up with a GoPro-compatible clip so you can use your smartphone on the trail. The company offers a few of its own mounting options like a chest mount and various adhesive mounts, which are designed to make it easy to capture POV footage on the trail. Or, use the included handlebar mount to use your smartphone as a GPS. The best part is you don’t have to use a special, bulky case, and there’s no need to get a new system every time you upgrade your phone.

Di2

GPS tech
Get caught up to speed on the latest GPS tech from Garmin and Magellan, plus get an overview of ANT+ technology that’s being used to connect everything from electronic shifting to wearable sensors.
Helmet cameras
We dropped by the GoPro booth at Interbike and got the lowdown on the company’s latest desktop and smartphone software for editing and capturing videos. GoPro has been making constant updates to both, and we’re excited to explore the latest features.
Garmin showed off the VIRB helmet camera which you can control with your compatible Garmin GPS unit or watch. We’ll be getting hands on with the camera and watch combo this month, so look for a review coming soon.
Magura Suspension
Magura’s electronic suspension automatically controls the compression and lockout for both your fork and shock. Read all about it here.
Lapierre e:i shock
Lapierre’s e:i rear shock automatically adjusts based on the terrain, similar to the Magura suspension. However, the compression on the fork still needs to be adjusted manually with the Lapierre system, so it essentially only provides 1/2 of the convenience of the Magura system above.
