Mountain Biking Leverich Trail

****   Add a review
#6 of 265 mountain bike trails in Montana
#687 in the world

This is one of the best rides I've been on in Montana. My favorite kind of riding is fast, flowy downhill so this was right up my alley. The trail is just over 3 miles up and ~2 miles down. The total elevation gain is about 1,800 ft. The descent is one-way downhill so you can really drop the hammer -- no need to worry about bikers/hikers coming up. They built a couple smallish jumps and a bunch of banked turns --- makes for an extremely fast downhill. This is a blast to ride!

Leverich is sick! I ride this trail 3 times a week as it's a good cardio climb up the first half, a little techy second half climb and wild fun on the way down! The banked turns get a little sketchy and loose sometimes with so much traffic down the trail but otherwise it's super fun and always leaves me satisfied!

First off, don't plan on driving up to the trailhead unless you have a high clearance vehicle. There is parking part of the way up for the others.

The climb up was tough but not technical. You just have to pick your pace and crank it. The downhill section has had a lot of work done to berm up the turns but its just too steep in most places. You can see evidence of this with the brake bumps leading into every turn. In one spot the brake bumps started as soon as I left the previous turn! In all a good workout but not as fun as it could be.

A rear treat - a purpose built mountain bike trail - on the way down anyway. The climb up is steep and uneven - only the fit and strong will be able avoid some pushing. You gain and then lose (woohoo!) about 900 feet. I see it has an intermediate rating but you'll need advanced skills to enjoy it.

At the end of April there is still a lot of snow and mud on the trail, the snow especially when higher in elevation, makes for slow going. Really fun trail otherwise. Had a blast on the downhill section

This is my favorite all around trail in bozeman. It is really quite polished as far as Bozeman trails go. There are other loops that can be added on at the top.
The down hill has been worked on extensively and has a really good flow to it.

Great first run, but I was huffing and puffing up the steep side. I don't know how some riders do the course in under 30 mins. That's crazy fast.

Great trail, an uphill workout along with a downhill bike trail; it flows alright and a few jumps along the way.

Great little trail easily accesable from town. The climb is non-technical but has some very steep sections. In fact, the first pitch right out of the parking lot before the fork will get your heart rate up. When you start the downhill, you're not on the downhill--there's a brief down about 2/3 of the way up. when you do get to the top, get ready for a very quick ride back down.

A quick ride but lots of fun.
    Great burmed corners.
    Fast and great flow.
Well maintained. We hit it just right after a little nighttime rain.

Overall a great ride - the uphill isn't too technical and there are plenty of places to rest! Downhill is killer and the banked turns are some of the best I've encountered.

Granny gear uphill, nearly on your brakes constantly downhill. Fun, brief and probably the most popular ride around Bozeman because you can blast through it in an hour or so.
