About this trail
Located inside of the outer loop, this is one of the more challenging trails at Chicopee. There are more rapid elevation changes, bigger roots, bigger rocks, and a few whoops that offer some air opportunities. In addition there are a couple of cool log rides and other technical features, but these can all be bypassed if you choose not to ride them.

Review: I find this trail a great escape if you get tired of riding Flying Squirrel and White Tail over and over. I would rate this trail maybe between Intermediate and Advanced only. Not too many climbs except for one particular section (if you begin from White Tail), and the steep rock slate climb which you better be in the right speed and gear if you want a chance of making it up. Upper half of trail is as rooty as any other section at Chicopee if not more. Overall, a challenging and fun trail.

Review: Trail is not that difficult for the most part. It does have some steep sections. I enjoy it because it hasn't been dumbed down to a dirt sidewalk through the woods. It is more natural and actually offers a challenge where you have to pick a line, maintain speed, keep control to make the climbs.

Review: Too many dang roots! Otherwise, decent trail. Frankly, this is my least favorite trail at Chicopee because of the dozen or so root climbs. If it could get smoothed up a bit, it'd be much more fun. With afterwork rides, we usually just skip Copperhead altogether.
EDIT: Funny how things change. Copperhead had become a regualr ride on every visit. The roots still drive me mad at times, but I enjoy the rest of the trail so much, I just accept the roots now. I still enjoy Red Tail and Squirrel more...

Review: More advanced trail, but primarily due to TONS of roots. Not a lot of climbing. I like the Van Michael trail out at Blankets Creek much more. Traffic goes in both directions so you have to stay sharp!

Review: One of the best trails at Chicopee! More challenging than the outer trails, and more things to entertain you.

Review: The Copperhead Gap trail is a really scenic trail with a bit more technicality then Flying squirrel. It actually starts at the north leg / intersection of White Tail Loop (Old Outter Loop) and ends on the western leg of Flying Squirrell. Labeled as advanced it is not overly exhausting. I would label this as more intermediate. Don't let its rating scare you away from a very enjoyable ride.

Similar Trail: All of Chicopee, Longer version of Blankets.
