Mountain Biking Camp Alexander Trails

****   Add a review
#23 of 78 mountain bike trails in Kansas
#3,371 in the world

The trail begins near a few cabins that sit above a small pond. The trail has a few technical rocky climbs, descents, and switchbacks, with some very fun and fast sections in the woods. Very well maintained by the local shop High Gear Cyclery, located in Emporia near 6th Street and Commercial Street.

Tried to ride the trail yesterday. Pretty sure no one has maintained it for a while. Multiple large impassable tree and very larger limb downing. Had to buxhwack a lot, did the whole trail, really not rideable. Would e a good little trail if it had been maintained. Had plenty of good intermediate rocky areas. Just not maintained. .

This trail is always a blast. The heavy rains this summer really brought out the challenge. The roots and rocks are more exposed making you push yourself mentally and physically. Just damn good fun!

My Son and I rode today, our first time on a trail in 5 years. Compared to trails we rode in North Carolina, it was great. Lots of roots, rocks, turns, climbs, and fun. Just wish I wasn't so out of shape!

This is a good workout trail that has a lot to offer. Switchbacks, rocky climbs, technical downhill, pump track, and fast singletrack. There is a lot to see here also. weather you want to blast through and push the clock or just ride and take in all Camp Alexander has to offer you can't go wrong. This trail is very well maintained by our friends at High Gear Cyclery.

Fun little Kansas Trail. Worth the drive from ICT to ride a few laps.

gr8 fun. the first 2/3s are less advanced, a bit of a twisty woods ride, with lots of small rocks in the dirt. then it gets really good with a bunch of tight switch backs into sharp climbs, and decent. and the pump track. could use some spring touch up maintenance.

This trail is well maintained. With all the extremely high wind we've had in the past few weeks the trails are in great shape. KUDOS To team High Gear and the volunteers. We had our first heavy frost and was perfect for riding. For local Emporia, I think this trail holds up to some of the better trails in Kansas. You get a taste of everything you want in a trail. Technical, climbs, downhill, fast track, tight turns, pump track, rocks, roots, and lots of dirt.

some rocky hills probably about half wooded, half plains. fun fast track. some changes were made recently and there is a better trail at the trail head. it is now very tight and technical. follow the orange arrows. it it really cool. if your in the area, go try it out.

An interesting trail outside of Emporia. This trail is well maintained and marked. Some interesting sections of rocks and roots through trees provide some challenge. Other areas are fast and flowing. Would go back and ride again.

There is a all new beginning trail here at Camp Alexander. The changes were made due to the erosion up in the pines. The new beginning is still fresh but uses more of the landscape. Nice switchbacks and short climbs. Lost the one nice down hill but you gain a little over 1/4 mile of trail. Trail markers are not up yet but if I know the High Gear Team they will be up soon. The end at the small pond behind the buildings has changed also. They used some of the ending to open up the beginning. So instead of heading towards the beginning along the pond and back up near the buildings , then down to the levy and across the bridge. Now you just turn left and cross the levy to the bridge. Look at the new route.

This trail has some technical spots but mainly and endurance trail. It is well maintained and worth the trip to ride.

This past summer the heavy rains really took it's toll on the rocky and rooted hills. They are still very rideable but ruff. Take your time and choose your line wisely.

I road on a Sunday when it rained in KC. It was fun to try a new trail......some rocks but overall pretty easy. Has a place for donations and I always give my support to any trail.

The trails neer the cabins are in the pines and are a great ride . There are lot's of technical turns and climbs on the rocky terrain. You can pick up speed and realy enjoy the ride in the flatlands or along the river. It's a great ride and workout. You got to try it. Stop in High Gear Cyclery in Emporia on Commercial St for trail info or your biking needs.

Good variance of terrain and a great workout. A good trail to train on the way it alternates fast singletrack with technical sections. Lots of fun!
