If you're looking for a technically-easy ride of about 10-15 miles in Salida, here's a great loop:
Here's a good loop:
-From town (even from Absolute Bikes), head out towards Hwy 50 on F Street.
-Turn right along the Hwy.
-Turn left onto County Road 110
-Climb up the gravel road (starts as paved, turns to gravel) until you reach the Little Rainbow Trailhead. If you can pick up the Skull Trail as a bit of singletrack on your climb (check out the map of this ride here: http://www.singletracks.com/mountain-bike/trail-map.php?id=2381&view=topo ) Great! If not, just climb the gravel road.
-Ride across on the Little Rainbow trail all the way to the end. This is a great singletrack trail with decent views, and the easiest singletrack in town.
-At the end of the Little Rainbow, descend the Race Track trail back down the mountain.
-Pedal out to the pavement, turn left on Hwy 50.
-Turn right onto Hwy 291/1st street, and pedal back to downtown.
