Canfield Bikes has had one of their prototypes stolen during testing in Salt Lake City, Utah. The bike was a green pre-production Tilt, and being used by EXT Suspension for shock and suspension tuning.
Canfield says that the bike was locked to a bike rack on an EXT employee’s vehicle when it was cut and stolen at around 6:45 am on April 2 on the block of 100 E 400 S in downtown Salt Lake City.
The Tilt was set up as a mixed-wheel bike with a 29er front wheel and a 27.5 rear wheel. It’s a size medium and since it is a pre-production model, there is no serial number.
Canfield says they have notified authorities. Anyone with information is being asked to contact any of the three brands involved:

While this is too unfortunate, it does make sense to be as secure as is possible. Out of sight, out of mind…
Hope the bike is recovered and the thief is punished to the fullest extent.
Seems there are quite a few high profile articles published in the last few weeks concerning bike theft and / or bike security. It’s unfortunate, but nevertheless unavoidable. I had a bike stolen from my garage during a break in several years ago. Wish I could say it was retrieved.
As a former SLC resident, I’m still trying to figure out what they were doing there. Washington Square park at 645am? How ironic that’s right by the courthouse, where cops always are.
