February was a slow month for mountain bike trail opening news. It’s winter here in the northern hemisphere so this isn’t all that surprising. However, up until now we had been seeing a pretty steady stream of trail announcements from the southern hemisphere.

The one trail opening to report this month is really just an official opening since mountain bikers have been riding at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama for some time now. The trail center, located on a US Army post outside of Huntsville, added signage recently and the public is now officially welcome to ride the approximately 20 miles of trails.

We’re tracking several trail systems that have been just been approved for construction, or are nearing completion for a spring opening, so stay tuned!
