Last week IMBA announced their 2015 Epics and as usual, each one of these picks is truly lust-worthy! This year’s class includes a trail in Iceland among the US picks and, in keeping with the recently-clarified Epic definition, these rides average a stout 62 miles each.

Armstrong to Strawberry (California)

This 39-mile route actually connects a number of trails to take riders from Armstrong Pass to Strawberry, CA in the Tahoe area.  It’s basically the Armstrong Pass trail plus Pony Express / Lovers Leap, and many riders choose to complete this one as a point-to-point shuttle.

The Black Canyon Trail outside Phoenix, AZ is a classic 60+ mile loop dotted with Saguaro cacti and dry, rocky terrain. Much of the trail is fast and flowy and Singletracks riders give it a big thumbs up, ranking it #28 on our list of the best trails. It’s also the top-rated trail in Arizona according to Singletracks members so it’s great to see the trail being recognized as an IMBA Epic as well.

The 55-mile Laugavegur route is a well known hiking trail in Iceland, though a few folks choose to bike it as well. With several huts located along the route and trailheads accessible via bus, this trail offers a great way for mountain bikers to experience Iceland, including its famous hot springs, by bike.

Two words describe this 21-mile ride in the Mt. Hood area: flow and views. Surveyor’s Ridge is one of the most popular rides in Oregon so if you’re in the area, this is one you definitely don’t want to miss.

Which of the 2015 IMBA Epics have you ridden? Are there any trails you think are more deserving?
