Mountain biking is a tough sport and there’s a lot to learn, which is why everyone, from beginners to pros, is focused on progression. One of the yardsticks many riders use to measure their fitness and endurance progress is “the longest single day ride.”
How long has it been since you notched your longest ride on the bike? Tell us about it in the comments.
Approximately 224 miles (14 laps, ~16 miles per lap) during the 2018 24-hours in the Old Pueblo mtb race near Tucson, AZ. Good times!
190km (120mi) following the trace created by my cycling club travelling through all my region. I started from home at 4:45 AM and I managed to arrive back home at 11 PM. I was not really in a hurry 🙂
Gravel grinds don’t count, so things like The White Rim are off the table. It’s all a flex anyway. 😉
Longest I’ve done so far is 26 miles a few times. Not a lot of places in the southeast to do much more than that without lapping. I think I’ll make one of my goals this year a 30+ mile ride.
Smoke n Fire (Idaho) 435+ miles total. Day 1 156 miles, good times on the bike in the backcountry. Oregon Timber Trail is mostly singletrack and looks good for summer 2021.
I’ve done 35 miles a few times on mostly flat central Florida trails. I start craving cheeseburgers and root beer floats after the 30 mile mark.
Tacos are my go-to after a super long ride.
They have become mine too, since a Taco truck started parking halfway between the local TH and my home!
47km (29mi) race over the range between Wanaka and Arrowtown (South Island, NZ), including a front puncture on the steepest, rocky downhill slope.
65 miles on Day 1 of the Palmetto trail in Charleston, SC. One big swampy ride with a 2-day total of just under 100miles (93.6). Just completed this pre-lockdown March 2020.
Oops I entered mine but was a ride on my mountain bike but not actual mountain biking! The question isn’t clear. Difference in avg. speed can be almost 2x.
67 miles is the most I’ve ridden thus far but hoping to eclipse that mark this year.
I did 211 km 3950 hm (85% off-road) in one day
Trying a mere 300 km 5000 hm in one day this summer.
I like it !
