Kona is out with a new version of their popular Process trail bike, a model that is largely responsible for sparking the Long, Low, and Slack trend now used by companies across the board. There are three models of the Process G2: a 27.5 with 153mm of rear travel; a 29er with 153mm of travel; and a 27.5 with 165mm of travel.
Much of what made the original Process a hit remains: short chain stays, long reach, and low standover. What’s new is the suspension layout along with updates like a switch to a metric shock, Boost spacing, and most notably, the addition of a carbon fiber frame. However, it’s only the 27.5 Process 153 that’s available with a carbon frame currently. The 29er version is aluminum only, at least for now.
There are now seven bikes in the Process G2 line, with the original Process replacing the Precept models going forward. Pricing for the new bikes is:
- Process 153 CR/DL 27.5 (carbon): $5,999
- Process 153 CR 27.5 (carbon): $4,799
- Process 153 AL/DL 27.5 (alloy): $3,599
- Process 153 AL 27.5 (alloy): $2,999
- Process 153 AL/DL 29 (alloy): $3,599
- Process 153 AL 29 (alloy): $2,999
- Process 165 (alloy): $3,999
