Today’s mountain biker is perhaps less concerned about weight than at any other point in the history of the sport… up to a certain point. Depending on riding style, body weight, budget, and many other factors, the point where the scale tips from “not bad” to “too heavy” is different for every rider.

I would suggest breaking down by bike type. A light enduro bike could be an unacceptable weight for a hard tail XC bike. Without the distinction this poll is kind of useless
A LOT depends on your size and fitness. 32lb is about the max for me, but I often ride with bigger/taller folks who can keep up with me on bikes that I couldn’t even lift off the ground. Skill and technique trump weight sometimes, I think.
My XXL bike weighs 32 lbs. and I wear a backpack full of trail & bike tools plus first aid supplies that weighs 10+ pounds. Additionally I have two water containers. Never thought much about it until I married a woman with a 26 lb. bike.
Her bike is much easier to load on the hitch rack. I love it.
Had to say 36 cause my fun enduro rings in at about 35 lbs. Now for an XC race, I’d use my light hard tail. But if you are lumping them all together I had to go high. Looking at the chart suggests there are more enduro riders than XC racers answering the poll.
My xc bike comes in at 26 lbs. My enduro bike comes in at 31 lbs. I have learned through experience that lighter bikes cannot take as much rough trail abuse as a well built trail bike.
Let’s see… My Stinger 3″ suspension weighs in at 19#’s, my Middlechild weighs in @26. The MC is a singlespeed HT + that is a fun factory on every level. Frankly, I don’t really care about weight unless the bike makes or breaks 30#’s and then I might look at a weight loss program.
More has to do with discipline than a generic “mountain bike”.
I couldn’t select any option. My heaviest bike is 84lbs and it isn’t too heavy. (Its a tandem DH ebike.)
Well, I’ve got a Haro Extreme X7 that weighs in at over 42lbs and I don’t have to walk it to the top, so…I guess there’s a reason we call them weight weenies.
Oh c’mon, it’s not useless. 72.8% of all Internet polls are for funsies anyway, and to start conversations about useless stuff. Where’s your sense of adventure?
