German bike brand Canyon is now selling select bikes to US customers via Amazon. The company, known for selling bicycles directly to consumers all over the world, is now offering many of their popular mountain bike models on the site, including the Spectral and Stoic.
A quick check at Amazon shows the Spectral 125 AL S in stock and available in four sizes for $2,799, and can be ordered with free Prime Two-Day shipping. The Stoic 4 hardtail is listed for $2,099 while carbon Spectral 8 models are priced at $4,699. Electric mountain bikes, including the Torque:ON are listed on Amazon as well. US pricing appears to be the same at Amazon as it is at Canyon.com.
Customers can add “Expert assembly” to their Canyon bike order for $139.99 which is said to include professional delivery and assembly “in the location of your choice.” Amazon goes on to say the service provider will unpack and assemble the bike and perform a safety check to ensure everything is functioning properly.
In October, Singletracks reported that REI was named an Authorized Service Provider for Canyon, an arrangement that made it easier for customers to service and find parts for Canyon bikes.
Canyon is one of the first major bike brands to sell via Amazon in the US. While it’s common to find bikes parts and accessories being sold on Amazon, few quality bikes have been available for purchase up until this point. Given the in-stock numbers currently being shown — between four and 15 bikes per model, depending on the size — it’s unclear if this is simply a small test, or if it’s a potentially long-term sales strategy.
Singletracks will update this article with additional information as it becomes available.
