I think the first and best upgrade for your money is buying some TOOLS! Being able to work on your own bike will make you a better rider. Bikes have become incredibly complicated but in a lot of ways easier to work on. The more you understand your bike the better. The money you save will more than help you buy some of the juicier upgrades like wheels.
