Not sure why you haven’t received any replies but my 2 cents: forget trying to re-use your old components. You probably won’t be able to find many *used* *frame only* FS bikes plus you’re cannibalizing one bike to build another (what will you do with the 8900 frame?). You’re also using parts that are up to 6 years old and there have been some pretty big advances since then in brakes, shifters, suspension, etc.

My advice? Sell the old to finance the new.

See that was my question. Have there been major advances? My current ride has full XTR, and Hayes Hydraulic disks.
I did just replace last year my stem and bars to a Easton Carbon riser bar.
But what has changed with the XTR derailers?

As far as not being able to find many frames, you are crazy. Go to Ebay, there are hundreds every day.

Did you get those new SPD loafers? Those are badass.

    Wow.

    Salt Lake and Northern VT.

I have been to both of those places, and these are the same types of places where people stop their cars at green lights to let pedestrians cross. Seriously, everyone is just happy and nice there. I think its something in the water, and being from Boston, the land of the angry lynch mobs, it kind of freaks me out.

I got out with a friend of mine and road fort rock in Exeter NH for the first time since the day we figured out my wife was pregnant (she hit a tree and told me she just didn’t feel right and was kind of dizzy). My daughter is now 8 so thats kind of bad for me right? Anyway, it was nice to be on the bike again, but for Christs sake, I think I saw one other hardtail, and most of the guys had on more pads than I wore playing hockey. What happened in 8 years? Maybe if I was wearing some of those pads I wouldn’t be on crutches today?? 😕 Worth it though.
