I myself am new to the mountain bike world. I have always rode bmx stuffs, dirt jump, street and park. Just went to a mountain bike. I purchased a bran new Jamis trail x comp for 650$. I have been on this ride for a month and I like it but could have got a better deal on a used bike with better components. My advice. Get a bike that is your size, you are comfortable on and within your budget. The 2 best things on my bike are the hydro disk breaks and adjustable damper on the fork. Put some between your legs!

Being outside, the thrill of conquering a climb or rough downhill and just the rush I get from being on 2 wheels.

It is not on their map of trails. So please ride it and add to trails. I am finding a lack of trails here in lancaster county.

I did. Still kick myself for it. I ordered his mainly for the frame knowing he would need better drive train. Finding a good quality ride for a 10 year old is not an easy task. He LOVES his bike and that is all that should matter. I am the one filled with disappointment. I totally could have got him something from any department store but that is not the place to purchase a bike. Luckily for me my local bike shop feels my pain and has helped me get his ride straight.

I just purchased a new hardtail. I feel I would have to learn how to ride a bike all over if I went to full suspension. I’m sure there is a time and a place for that and if I went full suspension I wouldn’t turn back.

Start in low on a slight incline. Set goals. I like to practice in empty parking lots and see how many spaces I can get. I feel slow up hill wheelie is easier to control your speed. Have fun.

I recently purchased a GT stomper prime for my 10 year old. Highly disappointed with the quality of parts for the price of this bike. The cranks were to short, 135mm, the front gear was to small, 28 tooth, the wheels suck, and the derailer  was the cheapest on the market. So after a new wheel on the back, new derailer, cranks, and a 34 tooth gear on the front my kid can now jump speed bumps and bomb hills with confidence. Needless to say I will never purchase another GT product.
