Telluride Ski Resort in southwest Colorado has partnered with Spot Insurance to include coverage for all winter and summer lift ticket buyers so now riders will have another line of defense outside of their knee pads and full-face helmets.

Spot covers up to $25,000 of medical expenses for people who suffer a ski, snowboarding, or mountain bike injury at Telluride, and there is no deductible and it works independently of other insurance.

We covered the launch of Spot Insurance two years ago, started by Matt Randall who wanted to make it less worrisome for riders who wanted to enjoy their sport, as medical expenses are one of the main reasons people in the US go bankrupt.

“We want Spot to motivate people to go out there and go big,” Randall told us.

The increase in ticket prices due to the insurance coverage should be “nominal,” according to CBSN Denver. The resort hopes that the insurance helps assure guests and gives them peace of mind. Spot believes that other resorts will eventually follow suit and will partner with the company as well.
