A new year means a blank slate, with a calendar begging to be filled with mountain bike adventures. In addition to epic rides in new and exotic destinations, festivals are another way to have fun, make friends, and learn about the latest gear.
If you’re planning to attend a mountain bike festival in 2023, tell us which one(s) in the comments below!
Volunteering at the Santos FTF second weekend of March. You should attend this year.
I don’t know if Outerbike is considered an MTB festival or not, but I’ll probably attend the Moab venue. It’s a good way to try a lot of bikes, and the routes out there are pretty wide open. Trail traffic doesn’t hamper forward progress on most trails.
Jeff, my Middlechild is a festival…
Dirtin’ with a singlespeed plusser is awesome stuff!!
Hoping to attend the Fruita Fat Tire Festival in May. I know it isn’t a mountain bike festival, but I’m planning on going to RAGBRAI this year for their 50th in July.
I ride the Iceman Cometh Challenge every year. It’s a bike race/party. It’s a blast. You get to be cheered on by thousands of people like you are a World Cup contender (which is pretty cool for a fat old guy like me), then watch actual World Cup caliber athletes finish in a very exciting finishing venue. Very very cool
The Sea Otter Classic, the largest bike festival in the world! The Woodstock of bike festivals. 75,000 attendees sharing the love of cycling, should be on everyone’s bucket list!
Maybe I’m just old and curmudgeonly, but I just don’t like MTB festivals. I go places to ride and festivals just mean crowded trails. And, at least in the case of KT, the big festival there ended up doing more harm than good.
