For a lot of us, the word resolution conjures emotions of dread, failure, and inadequacy. This year, let’s just call them what they are: Goals. With so many competing priorities in the coming year, it’s a smart move to make your mountain bike goals FIRST and let everything else fall into place around them.
Remain cancer free for stahtuhs!
Continue my cycletherapy with my bike named Sunspot.
Recovery has been a challenging road to travel. I had lost ~40% of my body weight. All was muscle mass since I have never had body fat.
’23 might be a better year.
The constant is my bicycles and riding them, Working on skills will never stop. Trials is no easy feat! I incorporate trials into every ride. It is the basis.
Here’s to wishing you a speedy recovery and building back that meat on your legs!
I’m rooting for you, here’s to getting stronger and staying healthy in 2023!
Zoso, Jeff, I really appreciate the kind werds, wurds, words!!
My bike named Sunspot is on the job! Makin’ sure that I get in some pedal time. It takes a singlespeed plusser to gitter dun with that task!
I go out and ride and feel like a 4 cylinder with burnt exhaust valves but improvement is tangible with each ride. Looking forward to getting back the V8 power that Sunspot knows quite well!
Muscle mass needs to be in the core as well as extremities! My spine gets furious at times due to loss of core strength. Need that for the trialsy good, wholesome TGS that is mixed into every ride.
Thanks again, gents! It means volumes.
Volunteer for trail maintenance
I got fat in 2020 and it’s stuck around ever since. I never really stopped riding but man I am slow as hell dragging around an extra 30-40 lbs everywhere I go. I’m going to get back in shape and get fast again!
You can do this, you got this!! Buuuuut, start out slowly to evaluate where you are, fitnesswise. Then, in moderation work your way up in moderation. You don’t need complications to dash your progress!
Do not buy a new bike …. Do not buy a new bike … Do not buy a new bike … I’m going to buy a new bike … NO! DO NOT BUY A NEW BIKE! My resolution is ride the bikes I have!
No serious goals. Try to ride a new place….maybe Sedona this year. Revisit places I’ve ridden. Oregon for sure (only grandchild lives there). Of course, spots on the way there….. Arkansas, Wyoming, Montana or maybe Colorado. I’ve hit Moab the last two years, but wouldn’t mind visiting there again. Finally made it to North Carolina last year and fell in love with the Brevard area. So many places…..so little money. It’s going to be fun.
I would add to the ride more, ride new places, ride with friends and improve skills, improve my bike maintenance and repair skills. Become more self reliant taking care of my bike and aid my fellow riders with free help repairing or upgrading their bikes out of my garage. Probably falls into the improve skills and ride more with friends categories.
