Mountain Biking Wire Mesa
#337 of 711 mountain bike trails in Utah
Brand new intermediate trail. Just completed Dec 2016. 7 mile loop travels around the edge of the mesa, with great views to the east and north. (Can see Mt Zion)
Easier version of Gooseberry Mesa. More technical rock features on the east 2 miles or so, with a downhill back to the TH on the west side.
Riders say the technical east is easier going CW. The west side climb has tight corners, so the downhill direction (CCW) isn't optimized. We rode CCW (on local recommendation) but suggest riding CW.
TH easy to get to; dirt road was pretty rutted from winter, but was being graded and gravel-repaired in early April.
Highly recommend.

UT 59 at Apple Valley, go north on Smithsonian Butte Scenic Byway. This will veer east after about 3 miles. Go past the Gooseberry Mesa sign. Another 2 miles or so, a sign on left will lead to TH about 1/8 mile of road.
