Phase 1 is 22 miles of 3 connecting loops that are mostly excellent single track. Most of the Phase 1 trails are quite technical. The White River Bluff Loop is 4.5 miles. Portions of the trail are quite technical, but the views of the White River and North Sylamore Creek Valley are worth the effort. Bald Sc***py Loop is 7.3 miles beginner to intermediate trails through Ozark Forest. Sc***py Mountain Loop is 12 miles of steep Ozark Mountain terrain. Beginners can ride most, but may need to push up/down steep switchbacks. Phase 2 has recently added another 16 miles of trail.
Review: Ugh! So much potential, but a huge let down. I should have followed previous reviews and stayed away. I made it about 3/4 mile down Bad Branch and had to turn around. Between the down trees and overgrowth that included razor sharp thorns I just could not fathom going another 11 miles. I spoke with a local at another trail and he explained that they just dont have enough bikers in the area to drive a strong volunteer force. They do use prisoners but that doesnt happen until late fall once
most the leaves have fallen (makes it easier to spot an escapee). Its a beautiful piece of property that seems to be well signed, but until they keep up with the maintenance, stay away.
Review: This is a good trail with a LOT of miles, but many of those are very very rocky, so come prepared for some hiking. Not real well maintained, but with that many miles of trail in very rural area you can expect some of that in the spring. Also be warned to bring spare parts and tubes as its over an hour to the nearest shop (only Walmart is close) and you will blow tires. Some good views but I would guess there are better trails not so isolated.
Review: Great, great trail. Don't be fooled by the other ratings. These trails are TOUGH. Some parts very technical. Bring your climbing legs. Beautiful trail and very worth the drive from about anywhere.
Review: Scratched up peverely from the weeds and thorny bushes overgrowing the trail and I have poison ivy to boot. Seems like it would be a great trail in the winter and spring or if there was some trail maintenance.
Review: Blue trail, scrappy mtn loop still has fallen trees blocking parts of the trail. But as of 11/28/14 mostly clear. Leaves cover the trail leaving some parts hard to navigate. Likewise heavy equipment tracks made parts of the trail hard to follow. But still a great great trail.
Review: Trail work update: The Bad Branch (red) trail was cleaned and cleared by a professional trail crew last week. The Orange And Green trails have also been cleared in the past few weeks. Roughly 75 percent of the blue trail is clear. The yellow has not yet been worked on, and will probably not be 'till after the first of the year. Great things are happening at Syllamo to restore this amazing trail system.
Review: This trail is fantastic! great tech sections and climbs that will challenge the best riders. Great views and lots of amazing limestone features. It did go through a few tough years (2009-2012) of neglect due to rural location and lack of local riding support/ maintenance. That is not the case anymore, Feb. 2014 IMBA and various bike clubs (80 folks) throughout the state got together and have this area in much better shape now. I suggest a visit in late Oct.- May, with Nov-mid Dec. and mid Feb- April prime biking conditions. It is unfortunately a dry county so don't forget to bring beer / whisky.
Review: This review is for the Red Trail, Bad Branch. The trail is completely overgrown and unrideable. There is a very large tree across the trail a couple hundred yard in and thorns and thickets completely covering the trails. Unpassable!!
