An epic backcountry trail! The views are amazing and the riding is rough! The trail first climbs Crystal Creek. Then it runs along the crest of the range, mounting Dome Shaped Mountain in the process, until just after Eagle Point. Suddenly, the trail points downwards and you bomb down to the Bitterroot River. Finally, the ride concludes with a relaxing pedal along the river.
Trail Directions are as follows. Crystal Creek Trail (#10) starts your journey. at the top of the climb, turn left on Easthouse NRT (#313). Continue along #313 until half a mile past Big Spring Creek Trail (#1269). Here, turn left onto #149. Once you hit the Bitterroot River, turn right onto #321. When you hit the Forest Service road, your ride is complete!
This is an awesome and epic ride until the descent off of Dome-Shaped mountain. After that it's fallen trees as far as the eyes can see. This means it is impassable!!! If you really, really want to ride some of it, ride it until the intersection with Palisade NRT, then ride from there to the legendary Palisade Mountain descent. Outside of the tree problem, the trail is dry, loose and rowdy! Make sure you have a dropper post!Thank |
