Mountain Biking Rojo

*****   Add a review
#43 of 693 mountain bike trails in Utah
#982 in the world

This is an advanced technical trail on the downhill and a brutal aerobic work out on the uphill.
Climbing up the jeep trail is suggested to come down on the slickrock singletrack. However, some particularly strong riders will do the trail as an out and back.

A note to prevent the singletrack from being discovered and used by dirt bike riders the entrance to the downhill is hidden. You will need to go with someone who knows the trail or get accurate directions, preferably GPS data. Additionally, to prevent a visible trail from forming that connects directly to the double track please pick up your bike and walk it the 10 or so feet to the singletrack

Getting there
From Vernal:
Head north on 2500 West/Taylor Mountain Road. From where you pass the water treatment facility travel approximately 2.8 miles north. The trailhead is on the east side of the road, sitting at the base of a jeep trail.

Very fun trail for the aerobically strong and solid technical rider. This trail is challenging and rewarding if you are fit.

Between Rojo being the most technically difficult trail in the vicinity of Vernal and the brutal climb up Red Mountain to the beginning of the singletrack, this trail is not for the faint of heart.

The climb is brutally steep and is on a jeep trail regularly used by dirt bikers and occasionally mountain bikers as a shuttled downhill. However, the singletrack downhill easily makes up for the less than stellar status of the climb to get to it. The singletrack is probably 80% or more steeply angled slickrock that will test your route picking skills and bike control.

If you are a confident rider and don't mind getting beat up a bit this trail is a must ride for the Vernal area
