Mountain Biking Prairie View
#52 of 219 mountain bike trails in Alberta
The Prairie View Trail measures about 6km one-way, climbing up from the Barrier Lake parking area to the top of McConnell Ridge. The trail begins by climbing very steeply on doubletrack, but eventually it narrows to singletrack as it approaches the top of the ridge. Once on top of the ridge, the trail plummets steeply down a narrow, rooty, technical singletrack to a junction with the Jewell Pass and Quaite Valley trails.
While there IS a Prairie View from the top, don't be fooled: most of the views off of this trail are of the dramatic Alberta Rocky Mountains!

Prairie View features a ripping singletrack descent, incredible mountain views from the rock top of the ridge, and lung-busting climbs. If only the entire trail was singletrack, it would have earned a 5-star rating. But don't let the lack of one measly star deter you: this ride is truly epic, and it offers access to even more fantastic singletrack!
