Trail Description
About this trail
This is basically two loops, one short and one long, with a couple connectors between them. The eastern loop is more interesting, but very short. The area retains water and the ground can be very soft. There is one climb that will get your heart rate up, but it is short and not very appealing. The powerlines cut a very wide swath through what would otherwise be a nice little patch of woods in suburbia. There's a lot of foot traffic, especially close to the nature center and by the lake. Nothing technical. Very leafy, even by Maryland standards. Cedarville is better for a beginner and Rosaryville is better for anyone else.

Q: Any recent updates on these trails? I ask because it states here that this is a 5 mile beginner loop - but the only trail maps I can find do not show that. They show several blue loops and 2 green connectors. I have a friend that wants to ride "flowy" type trails but not true MTB. Will this work? -Ken Harris

Review: This trail system is developing nicely and is built inside of a beautiful, well maintained county park. The flowy trails are well marked using tags on trees placed 1/8 to 1/4 miles apart. Trail maps are located at the Park office and go well with trail markings. Bonus, there is a concrete skate park that allows bikes. You can access the trails from the main entrance to the park by the baseball fields or park at the skatepark and start near the small lake. Will be back with a bmx and mountain bike!

Review: This trail is easy but terribly marked, barely can see the trail...trees down everywhere and it isn't maintained well at all. I live in the area and it would be really nice if I could get a mid week ride on this trail but it is horrible, more for hiking than MTB, I hope they clear it out soon

Review: Great beginner trail. Flows very well with minimal obstacles and hill climbs. As for today's ride, there are two downed trees covering the trail forcing you to dismount and walk around. Other than that it's nice and dry and easy on the skill level.

Review: At this point in time the trails in Cosca are mainly hiking paths. However, plans have been drawn up, by IMBA, flagged, and work has begun on cutting in new and improved trails. More info can be found here http://www.trailconservancy.org/
