Mountain Biking Hataitai Zigzag

  Add a review
#343 of 387 mountain bike trails in New Zealand
#27,234 in the world

This track provides a nice alternative to the steep Hataitai to City track. Instead of heading straight up the hill, this track wanders up through the bush at a gentle gradient.
About 0.1km up from the bottom the track crosses the Hinau Street spur of the Hataitai to City track. Just after a switchback the track divides into two paths. The original track continues south to soon rejoin the Hataitai to City track, while a newer section turns north to continue gently climbing up to Alexandra Road.

Getting there
The top is at the Alexandra Road saddle point, a few metres northeast from the top of Hataitai to City track.
The bottom is on the velodrome exit road, where the main Hataitai to City track heads straight up the hill. Instead of going up Hataitai to City track, head 20 meters north and then alongside the Hataitai electrical sub-station's fence.
