Mountain Biking Bonneville Shoreline Ogden North Of 12th

The north side of 12th street on the shoreline is much more exposed and
technical than the south side. It also has less traffic, mostly experienced
mountain bikers and trail runners. This trail is rideable much of the winter as it's
southern exposure helps the trail stay snow free. Great for pre and post season
but too hot during the summer unless you ride early. They have been working a
lot of new trails and improvements since 2010!

Ogden 12th Street at the mouth of the canyon near Rainbow Gardens.
This is a great trail - the best of the 4 BST segments in Ogden. Elevation gain, exposure, rocks - definitely the most technical. There has been some work on the trail north of Jump Off Canyon to smooth out some of the rougher spots (more advanced riders might say 'sanitized'...) but it's still a great ride.
| ThankNorth of 12th is my new go to as the trail south of 12th down to Beus Canyon is exceptionally busy lately. People tend to avoid the northern section because it is much more exposed and technical than the southern section. The climbing is also more steep and sustained. Sure is peaceful though!
| ThankIf you like to climb (read: abuse yourself), start at Rainbow Gardens in Ogden Canyon. If you like a descent, start at any of the Harrison Blvd offshoots or, for the full experience, Beus Canyon just south above the Dee Events Center in South Ogden. This trail is definitely technically advanced. I am a beginning rider but I'm stubborn, so I made it okay but it was slow-going. Definitely recommend for intermediate-advanced riders. The closer you are to Ogden Canyon, the more traffic (hikers, bikers, and dogs oh my) there is. Farther south the trail is much more technical and you'll have it to yourself. If you're headed south on the trail, be prepared to do some hike-a-bike-ing. Views are pretty nice. The trail is mostly exposed so wear sunblock! If you like smooth trails with few to no rocks, this is NOT for you!
