Mountain Biking Bare Hare / 223b / Saddle Back

****   Add a review
#71 of 395 mountain bike trails in Georgia
#2757 in the world

This is the furthest-out section of the IMBA Epic Bull Mountain loop. You really get the "out there" feeling when riding this trail along the ridge line. I recommend riding the loop in a counter clockwise direction. 4 miles in one direction, Bare Hare is one of the nicer pieces of singletrack in the Bull Mountain network. Still, some of the climbs are very steep and require a good anaerobic effort.

Getting there
"From Atlanta take GA 400 North towards Dahlonega. 400 becomes US 19. Take US 19 to Dahlonega. Take GA 52 West in Dahlonega. Turn right at Grizzle's store (broken sign actually says 'zle's Store") onto Nimblewill Church Rd. Just before Nimblewill Baptist church, turn at the marked "Jake Mountain" trailhead. Primitive camping spots located just down the hill from the main parking lot.

Alternate: Turn right on FS 28 at Nimblewill Baptist. Go 0.4 miles. Turn left onto FS 83. 1.8 miles to trailhead. Several bike parking areas, this trailhead is known as Bull Mountain.

Big climb if riding Bull Mt counter clockwise. Or big downhill if riding the loop clockwise. The full loop is equally great on both directions. The climb is awesome either way as are the descents.

A great trail that is woven into the Jake/Bull Network. It offers some challenges and some rewards for your hardwork. It's not going to be the "Trail" you always have to visit, but it will be a trail that you think in your mind, "Yeah, we'll do that one Again"
