I recommend to remove the front derailleur and the front gearing components including upgrading your crank to a single speed. that will make a huge impact in your bike weight, but also depending in what kind of trails you ride to get a dropper post.

    -Great weight
    -Great Design/Looks
    -Strong Bike
    -Best for the price

-Only 1 color per year, So if you friend getting same year get ready to be matching up with your friends like me, I have 4 friends of my with the same bike and color.
-Does not come with dropper post like the 2018 and is only 1 year difference.
-Weight more than the Stance 1, because all the component in the crank sections like front derailleur
chain rings, front sprocket the cogs, the gearing components for the front derailleur... etc.

most bang for the buck FS

rear suspension is not progressive, which may not be a con to everyone.

I bought the 27.5 1 as my first entry level mountain bike and I have no serious complaints yet. For the money, this is great budget friendly bike to get someone started in mountain biking.

    Nice price point
Decent components on the 27.5 1
    Looks good

    Giant grips are garbage

I was told this is a good "introduction to full suspension" MTB. But unfortunately you don't need to be riding long to discover the lower end shimano components which when I had it begin to fail pretty quickly after harder rides. Out of principal I took it back to the shop each time instead of working on it myself, but after 3x in less then 6 months I just got rid of it. Not sure Giant really nailed it on this one.
