There will be no USA Cycling Collegiate or Marathon National Mountain Bike Champs this Year [Updated]

Consider 2020 a "gap year" for collegiate mountain bikers.

USA Cycling has announced the 2020 Collegiate Track and Mountain Bike Nationals have been cancelled. According to the recent press release, “the majority of USA Cycling collegiate conferences have cancelled their fall racing season and we are hearing from more and more teams that they will not be able to compete or will have travel restrictions in place.”

The organization is currently looking into other ways collegiate mountain bikers can train and compete safely this fall.

We recognize the lack of conference competition and Nationals is disappointing. As an alternative, we have created a series of challenges that will pit team against team over the fall semester. With competitions both on the bike and off, including a Collegiate Cup virtual race competition and an academic team challenge, we look forward to our entire collegiate community being involved. More information will be provided shortly as we open registration in mid-August.

Update: On August 6, USA Cycling also announced the Marathon Mountain Bike Nationals event, scheduled to take place at Palo Duro Canyon, have been canceled. Unlike USAC Cyclocross Nationals, which will likely see a change of venue due to Covid-19 considerations, it does not sound like the Marathon event will take place for 2020.
