About Me

Sixtysomething Floridian rider that bought his first bike December 2013. Traveled to Oregon the past two summers, riding trails along the way. I could print a "Beginning Mountain Biking Across the USA" guide.

Wish there were more high end full suspension XXL bikes produced. SANTA CRUZ is only company with carbon fiber models that I can find. TREK has a aluminum 23" Fuel Ex model. That's all my searching has revealed.

Late fall through spring my home trail is Santos on the Cross Florida Greenway.  Loads of beginner and intermediate XC trails.....if I'm  especially inspired there is the "Vortex" with plenty of short...

Not me, though I spent my 5 year college career in Lubbock, Texas.....where you can look further and see less. Surrounding towns were Plainview, Levelland and Brownfield. Great people and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. Led me to explore New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. I spent as much time as possible on the Caprock and…
Videos like this make me feel so ordinary. In total awe of folks that ride at that level. Can we make sure the hiking group don't show it to members of Congress if a vote to open up wilderness trails ever takes place?
Just finished my fourth straight summer in Oregon and 44 Road have become my "go to" trails. Maybe my best day was made by driving up up gravel road 4410 and making the short hike to Lookout Mountain (6525') with a non riding buddy for a fabulous view. Afterwards I rode down the road to…

As one that spends the majority of time riding forest trails (Florida & Oregon mostly), I truly enjoy the openness of prairies, canyons and deserts. I look forward to my annual road trip and all the delicious dirt along the way.

You know when I ride alone, I prefer to be by myself.

There are a few spots outside of Portland.   Post Canyon is just off I-84 in Hood River. Additionally, there is plenty of riding off Highway 35 on Road 44 (See Chris...

I'd rather have a dropper post than rear suspension.
I've ridden a Trek hardtail for almost 4 years over 7,000 miles in 20 different states and two provinces. I realized that my legs, lungs and rear cassette are a weak combination on some of the climbs I encounter, especially out west. Though I'll upgrade to FS bike soon, these bike offer an interesting option.
