When Do the MTB Trails in Your Area Open For the Season?

In North Vancouver we're lucky to have year-round trail access with the exception of some of the higher elevation trails and the couple of weeks a year when we get a big snow dump. Woohoo!

Here in Columbus, GA it's year-round, but the trails can't be ridden as often in the winter due to them not drying out as fast.

In central Florida we are open year round. I have noticed my Oregon friends have continue to ride through the past two winters. Unfortunately, those dry conditions can lead to smoky skies when I visit during the summer/fall.

In the Upper Midwest they only close for late fall/early winter freeze/thaw cycle and spring thaw. Both have variability in the duration for each closure. Otherwise it is dirt riding spring/summer/fall and groomed trail in the winter.

Late spring for most. Snow and melt take time at high elevations. The areas with migration routes will close during the rut etc.

New trails are also incoming in the Burning Mountain area. This is gonna be some good stuff. I already ride deer trails in that region and will miss the hell outta natty trails vs. man made. But, ya know, Prahgress!!

Year Round, but in the early spring we deal with the freeze/thaw cycle like everyone else and discourage people from using them when the temps hover just above freezing because of the trail damage it causes.
