National Trails Day is coming up here in the USA, officially slated for next weekend, June 4, 2016. The event is marketed by the American Hiking Society, but many of the events involve all trail users, from mountain bikers to hikers and equestrians. To find an event in your area, check this map.

Locally we’re promoting the Bull / Jake Mountain trail work party at 9am on Saturday, June 4. This is actually organized by the Chattahoochee Trail Horse Association, which makes it an excellent opportunity to show that mountain bikers can work with and support other trail users.

If you’ve never participated in trail work before, don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Many of these events feature large groups of volunteers so it’s a great, non-commital way to give trail work a try. A few years ago I participated in a National Trails Day work party that included nearly 200 volunteers! Don’t miss out.
