A week ago Jeff published an article about the threat of development facing some of the most popular mountain biking trails in Oklahoma. However, a new chapter has unfolded in the saga. Now, the mall developer plans to relocate to another site in Tulsa that was cleared for development years ago.
An outlet mall slated for the Turkey Mountain area is now headed to Jenks, according to an investor’s brochure from the developer and the mayor of Jenks.
Simon Property Group now intends to build its Tulsa Premium Outlets mall on land across the Creek Turnpike from the Oklahoma Aquarium, Mayor Kelly Dunkerley said Wednesday night.
Thanks in part to opposition from concerned mountain bikers, this threat to the local trails and the wilderness character of the Turkey Mountain area has been put to bed!

That was quick! I wonder if the GoFundMe donors will get their money back? Maybe the group should just spend the cash on a party to celebrate. 🙂
It’s not over Jeff. The property is still zoned commercial so anyone with the money and desire to develop something that fits within that current zoning can do so.
