12 New Mountain Bike Trails [October 2020]

Pump tracks are sprouting like mushrooms this fall, alongside big mountain bike trail projects from the USA to Australia.

Bighead Creek (Kilgore, Texas): Mountain bikers have been enjoying the three miles of singletrack at Bighead Creek since at least September, and the trails officially opened this month.

Coleman Memorial Park (Lebanon, Pennsylvania): A pump track was recently opened at Coleman Memorial Park.

Creekside Flow Trail (Coralville, Iowa): A 2-mile flow trail opened at Creekside Park this month.

Cruser’s Kettle (Cuyuna, Minnesota): Cuyuna is already known as a mountain bike destination, and this month the new Cruser’s Kettle trail officially opened to bikes. The 7-mile trail is said to offer a backcountry feel and is designed with experienced riders in mind.

Dreaming Pools (St. Helens, Tasmania): The St. Helens area of Tasmania, Australia is making a big investment in mountain bike trails in a bid to boost tourism. The Dreaming Pools trail is a scenic, 27km trail that adds onto an already well-known system of mountain bike trails in the area.

Dwellingup Adventure Trails (Dwellingup, Western Australia): The Dwellingup Adventure Trails at Lane Poole Reserve were constructed as part of an $8.4M project. Riders will find 35km of singletrack trail to explore, ranging from XC to all-mountain.

Freedom Trail (Terre Haute, Indiana): A new trail called The Freedom Trail was recently designated for adaptive mountain bikers at Griffin Bike Park. Read more about the grand opening here.

Morse Park (Neosho, Missouri): A new five-mile, singletrack mountain bike trail was added to Morse Park with plans to add more trails in a second phase.

Patten Academy Park (Patten, Maine): Community members built a pump track at Patten Academy Park in just a couple days.

Shakedown Street (Palmerton, Pennsylvania): A 3-mile, beginner-friendly trail was recently added to Blue Mountain Bike Park.

Tanton Reserve (Petosky, Michigan): Six miles of multi-use trails were constructed inside the 236-acre Tanton Reserve. The trails were designed by Rock Solid Trail Contracting and supported in part by Top of Michigan Mountain Bike Association. Travel is directional depending on the day of the week, so be sure to check the signage.

Titcomb Mountain (Farmington, Maine): A new beginner trail recently opened at the Titcomb Mountain ski area.
